OK. Well this card was a little bit of a fail for the 300th MIX challenge. The "Royal Garden" challenge made me think of the scene in Disney's Alice in Wonderland where they're painting the roses red. So I wanted to watercolor some roses. But then I found a fancy stamp with a vase of ranunculus and I thought it was neat. But it had too many details to heat emboss and then watercolor. It became a blob of gold and color. So I die cut a butterfly to fly around the Royal Garden. I'm needing sympathy cards because a coworker just lost his brother, so I finally used this Sympathy EF that I just had to have. I sponged the edges and the words to make them stand out more. Distressed the edges and then it needed something else, so I started drawing gold splatter around the butterfly. Got a little carried away and splattered the entire background.

I think your failed vase of flowers metamorphosed into such a beautiful butterfly, Jen. It's killing me that I have a punched butterfly from a similar fail and it's just missing the tip of a wing, so I'll have to tuck it under something or along an edge. The gold spattering looks super - and what a very handy embossing folder.

Rich gold splattered bg and perfect for this sympathy card with your lovely "failed" butterfly...which is too perfect for this card! A wonderful result!
