Another Halloween card for Send a Smile 4 Kids. I got this "Best Witches" stamp set at a show this past January, figuring it would be perfect for cards to send to them. After I cut a piece of mixed media paper to the size in the sketch, I stamped the witch, broom, & bat with Wet Cement ink. I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to help with positioning of the witch & bat. These are cling stamps, and since I wanted them just right, that was the way to go. I stamped the broom first, since I wanted it to look like the witch was holding it. I also stamped a mask for the broom on a full-sticky Post It note, cut it out, and masked off the handle before stamping the witch.
I colored the images with my Inktense pencils. I used a damp paintbrush to pick up the color from the pencils & apply it to the paper. This is my preferred method, since it gives me much more control over the color intensity, and avoids pencil lines that won't fully dissolve. I used a gold gel pen for the buckle on her hat, a silver gel pen for the band on the broom, and a black glaze pen for her eyes. I also used a white gel pen to draw in the bat's smile, since I had pretty much obliterated it when I painted the bat.
I cut the patterned paper pieces to size. The stripe is from "Owloween Stew," & the purple & green papers are from "Trick or Treat." I adhered the background papers to a white card base, and mounted the focal panel over those. Finally, I added the strips on the left side, and added the dots with Nuvo Crystal Drops. As one last touch, I glued googly eyes on the bat, just to add to the cuteness factor. Other than the coloring, this card came together pretty quickly, & I really like how it turned out!
