It is so lovely to be back at my desk and joining in Miss Lisa's fun "recycle" Teaparty for our very own Carol aka Bobbie's Girl.
During our travels we visited lots of little charity shops, packed full of all sorts of things from tractors to false teeth. I came across a few copies of 1955 and 1956 Australian Home Journal magazines and instantly thought how great the covers would look in picture frames. In reality, these magazines will never see a frame or a wall, but I do love them and I consider it my civic duty to contribute to the economy of small outback towns!
As soon as I read all the things that Carol loves, I immediately knew what my recycled element would be. I was going to make a tall card, but that didn't show off enough of the magazine page background, so I chopped her legs off, stuck her on the card, then stuck her legs up under her skirt. Her BMI is a bit out of whack, but 1950's women were generally shorter...weren't they?
I hope all of our cards bring some cheer to Carol. It is great to be back in Splitcoaststamperville. I missed you all so much. Thank you for looking.

Oh dear Susie, your vintage creation and belle of the ball will totally thrill Carol to the moon and back!
How fun it is to shop thrift stores and find unusual treasures! I must admit if I found false teeth at one, I would have to buy them as a conversation piece!! (Just kidding!) haha
I love the added bling on your beautiful belle and also on the one on the magazine print.
A Sensational treasure indeed and so very glad to see you back in Splitcoasterville!!
Hugs!

Yay, how wonderful to find a notification that you have uploaded in my emails this morning. What great finds. Susie, your page reminds me so, so much of the illustrations in my Vogue guide to sewing which I used to pore over. I guess that it's probably of a similar vintage, I must go and look. What a great find, and what a beautiful card for Carol.

Like Sabrina I cheered to see a notification in my inbox this morning! Hope you've had a lovely time on your travels and not left the charity shops too devoid of stock! This is gorgeous, the patterned paper makes a perfect dress and the style fits beautifully with the magazine cover - I love that it's summer fashions with a Christmas Greeting for a bit of Antipodean flair! The lace and ribbon finishing touches add to the feminine feel, too.
