Expect the Unexpected - I see so many future cards with this new sentiment! Today it is a Halloween sentiment paired with a new Scary Skull image. I couldn't resist changing the skulls into sugar skulls - it makes them a bit less scary and reminds me of skulls I saw growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The pink color and lace help reduce the scariness too. The inside has a really scary skull I didn't change up. I should have done a giant Boo sentiment! Maybe some confetti would be fun.
The bg and the skull base was done using SU! Regal Rose and Vintage photo distress ink swiped on aluminum foil and sprayed with water until liquid. Then I dipped in the paper. The water softens the color to light pink and gives the ink some motion. I love this technique. On the cardboard base, I pealed off a layer of paper (Amazon Box) and then painted the cardboard white. It was too white, so I sponged on Vintage Photo and Black Soot which I also did lightly around the skulls too.
Fun - hope this isn't too scary!

Pinks and browns are one of my favorites, Nancy. Now pair them up with these fun chicks and you've got a super holiday card! Just glad you didn't reveal the inside~

I am liking the pink used on Halloween cards, Nancy. Your cardboard looks great....almost looks burned which is good. Hmmmmm....I'm wondering what was delivered to you in that Amazon box. I'm think crafting goodies.

These skulls are fabulous Nancy, and not scary at all with your beautiful pink and brown color palette. What a fun and wonderfully unexpected Halloween card. I have a friend who is an artist living in New Mexico and she creates fabulous Day of the Dead art, of which this is so reminiscent. Love it!

Love the black and pink colors together with the corrugated kraft and lace thrown in....making such an eye-catching vintage card. More favorites of mine...the pink sugar skulls and the black velvet ribbon band! Lovin' that rustic, distressed corrugated...adds marvelous texture!!!
