Another Halloween card for Send a Smile 4 Kids. The large circle in the sketch I chose, combined with my stamped/die cut elements, made me think of a moon. Hence the inspiration for my little scene!
I stamped the bear, hat, & cat on vellum bristol paper with Tuxedo Black ink. I colored them with my colored pencils, using Gamsol on paper stumps to blend & soften the colors. I actually die cut the bear before stamping & coloring, since the die is solid. I'm still trying to perfect my stamping technique with this particular image, but I think I'm getting closer to getting the image centered on the die cut! Once I'd finished coloring, I glued the hat on top of the bear's head & the cat in his arms. I also used a black glaze pen to go over the eyes & nose, to add a bit of shine & deeper black color.
I stamped the bubbles, cauldron, & jack-o'-lantern on smooth bristol paper, with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I used my Tombow markers to color them in. After I'd finished coloring, I cut them with the coordinating dies.
For the grass, I die cut a strip of Strathmore Mixed Media paper with a "Snow Drifts" die to create a bit of a hill. I inked it with Crushed Olive at the top, and Peeled Paint to shade the bottom. (I figured the moon would be highlighting the top of the hill.)
For the moon, I die cut a circle from Canson XL Mixed Media paper. I inked it with Squeezed Lemonade, then went over it with Scattered Straw. I'm not sure if the first inking was even necessary, since the Scattered Straw seemed to cover it completely. Finally I inked around the perimeter with Wild Honey. I used a hexagon template & my MISTI to help me position my greeting, from "Bear Ware 2." I curved it to match the curve of the moon, and stamped it around the outer edge of the circle.
I used an A2 size piece of dark blue cardstock for my background. I traced where my moon would be, then inked the rest of the panel with Chipped Sapphire, approaching but not inking all the way to that traced line. I then went around the edges with Black Soot, again not covering up all the Chipped Sapphire. Finally, I went over all the inked area with more of the Sapphire, just to smooth everything out. I splattered on some white paint for stars, glued my moon in the corner, & trimmed off the overhanging bits.
I adhered my grass layer to the bottom of my panel, and glued my bear, cauldron, bubbles, & jack-o'-lantern to the background. Finally, I mounted the card front to a white card base.
