While DH was over in the States with a friend back in August I took a coach trip down to my sister - and visited the local craft stores in her town. Better than here, it has to be said. I totally forgot the colour shapers which were on my list, but for €2.99 I couldn't pass this set up, just for the frame. So when I read Ky's write-up for her Very VintageMIXed media challenge, I thought I'd see what I could do today to make a vintage style, monochrome portrait.
I started by stamping the frame with Walnut Stain DOX and embossing it, then sponged it with maybe Vintage Photo (whatever was on the sponge), then buffed it with some brown luster rub-on. And that gave a waxy coat which meant that the gold Twinkling H2Os has a lovely aged, gilded look.
I stamped the image on watercolour paper, and added the background wash with coffee (still on my table from DTGD, now totally dry). I also used coffee for the darker stripes in her hat. The rest of her, and the foreground, were coloured with Inktense pencils. I sprinkled some grey (neutral) Brusho over the pavement while it was sill wet. Later on while adding Stickles to her pompom I added a few drops on the pavement too. Masked her, and stamped Weathered with Vintage Photo. Cut the frame out and popped it up on foam.
Cut a base from kraft so that it's 7 x 5 when folded. Cut a 6.75 x 4.75 piece and embossed it with Kassie's Brocade, then sanded it, then buffed over it with Microglaze to bring up the sanded areas, then distressed the edges.

Oh, I love this, Sabrina. That frame is outstanding and you did such a beautiful job with the coloring on it....certainly has a gilded look. The image is just adorable and the weathered stamp was just perfect to finish it. Has to jump into my faves.
