Some 40 years ago when my boys were small, I worked from home. I bought up packs of Laura Ashley scraps, stitching them together to make patchwork waistcoats for a funky shop near my home. I'm not sure people who work from home are ever paid what they are worth .... so for today's 'Labor Day Week' in the USA I am celebrating home workers!
I dry embossed the top panel - it has sewing items on it - cut out the circle and glued a square of my 'free' fabric behind it. I stamped the tape measure at each side and added ribbon. Finished off with fussy cut scissors, thread, buttons and bow!

Oh, Sandy, what a gorgeous card! I so admire your gift of making the wonderful patchwork waistcoats, and I made all my clothes starting as a teen-ager into my early adulthood. It was wonderful and saved a lot of money. I know a number of friends who have sewn at home and made extra income for their families. They are special people and should be commended. I love all the wonderful sewing elements and how beautifully you've arranged them. Love the colors too and your lovely "fabric" as the center. Stunning card!! Hugs! xoxo

Sandy I completely agree those that work from home are not paid what they put in to their projects. What a shame too because there are some great at home businesses. This is a super card for the Labor Day challenge and my MIL and my mother would both love this card since they are both sewers. Thank you so much for a great card for the Labor Day Week challenge.

Sandie, so true! Certainly when I knit I don't expect to get anything near what my time is worth, even when I did freelance cooking it was hard. Brilliant idea, and such a beautiful card.

What a gorgeous card, Sandie! And I have to agree that today no one gets what they truly deserve! My daughter’s company has people in the garment district making runner’s clothes for her, and at Christmas she gives them extra money! People want clothes made in the USA but don’t want to pay the price.
Your card is wonderful! ( I made all my daughter’s clothes until she was in second grade.)

I love this! As a sewer myself I really appreciate what you said about not getting what something is worth. I loved all the Laura Ashley prints...I bet your designs were really cool. Your card is great!

I have always said if we even charged $.50 for our time, no one could possibly afford our hand made items! People sometimes have no idea of how many hours goes into a project! I think that EF had to be custom made for this image and stamp set. The buttons seem to have their own little circles to nest into! I love the dress form image and the fabric circle really makes your card extra special!
