My Mother-In-Law just turned 92 and she asked me to get her some thank you cards from Walmart to send to the friends and family who gave her gifts. I can't tell you how pained I was to have to buy cards, when I could have made them for her. So after I got home, I used this challenge to create four each "Thank You" cards in three colors to send to her for her future needs to thank folks. I should have thought of this sooner!!!! Duh!
I turned the sketch from portrait to landscape mode, and used the pretty floral stems from Stampin' Up!'s retired 2007 "Oh, So Lovely" hostess stamp set. I stamped each of the three stems using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto SU Whisper White card stock far enough apart to allow me to die cut them out later.
Each floral stem was hand-colored using SU Stampin' Write Markers (that's why it was important to use Memento ink for stamping the image - I didn't want the water-based markers to smear the flower outlines). Four sets of the three flowers were colored with retired colors Cameo Coral, Summer Sun, Blue Bliss, and Gable Green. I also used current color Wild Wasabi to give more tones to the leaves and stems.
Each floral stem was die cut with one of the third largest Spellbinders "Labels Four" Nestabilities dies. I used a craft sponge to color the edges of each die-cut floral stem to match the flower color.
The card bases were standard A2 SU Whisper White cardstock folded in half to form 4.25"x 5.5" card. The four cards that were going to have the coral poppy had a 4"x 5.25" panel glued to the front. The card with the tiny yellow daisies had a Crushed Curry panel, and the one with the little round "blueberries" had a Marina Mist panel.
I cut the script pattern paper from the DCWV "Maps, Text, & Ledgers" 8" paper stack into 2"x 5.25" strips. Each of the strips were sponged lightly with a matching color to the main panel. These panels were glued using Tombow to the front of the card centered top to bottom.
The floral stems where glued to the left of the card front centered over the script panel.
The sentiment tag was created by cutting strips of Whisper White cardstock just a tad wider then 3/4", then centered in the SU "Scalloped Tag Topper" punch to create the scrolled end with a hole for threading th ribbon on the right. The then the 'Thank You' sentiment from SU "Sassy Salutations" was stamped close to the punched hole. I trimmed the tag close to the beginning of the sentiment, then punched and stamped again. Each tag was sponged on the edges with the same ink that was sponged on the script panels. A piece of matching ribbon was threaded through the tag holes, then the tags were mounted on the card front using adhesive foam strips.
For those interested, the script is from a poem ‘The Lark Now Leaves His Watery Nest’ by the British poet, Sir William Davenant (1606–166.
I am rating these cards' difficulty level of "1" out of a possible "5". Because they are pretty easy, they are ideal for making multiples as a gift, like I did for my MIL.
