Hard to believe August is almost gone and how summer has flown by. This weekÂ’s Teapotter theme is Blast from the past - using old paper crafting items.
The stamps sets used date back to 1997 & 2003.
The corrugated crimper is a tool IÂ’ve had for several years and was fun to use again as was the deckled scissors.
But the one thing that attracted me to paper crafting back in the late 90Â’s, was the effect you could create simply by tearing paper to give it a rustic, vintage look! No tools required except your hands!!

So cute, I have a crimper and love the look it gives, and we did do good in those days where not have all the fancy things offered now for stampers---like the torn pieces added along with the embellishments to make sweet card.

You did a great job tying together (pun recognized) the old items with a hint of current trends. The twine and the layers make it brand new and all together this card really sings!

I still like the look of torn paper - but even after all these years I can never remember whether to tear towards or away from me if I want the core to show. And I'm a big fan of the crimper - I bought a new one a couple of years back with my Moddy Christmas Amazon gift and I enjoy using it. I'm impressed that your eyelets match the yellow card so well - my vast supply never seem to match anything. You certainly rocked Sandy's challenge.
And yes, the texture plates were an early dry embossing - they came with a little rolling tool which was meant to work like a stylus but didn't very well, and was a killer to use. I occasionally use them with the embossing plate in my Big Shot these days, but I've found a total new lease of life for them by using them under the card when I'm colouring - like old crayon rubbings.

Oh gosh, is this ever delightful Jeannie. You sure tucked a lot of great techniques into this one fabulous card. I do believe my favorite are the yellow brads- so sweet! I never think to tear paper so thank you for the great inspiration on this! The texture from your crimping along with the torn paper really adds to the wonderful fall feeling of this rustic card. ~Karen.

Crimping -- definitely a blast from the past. (I had a very cheap crimper that broke after a few uses, so it was never really part of my crafting adventures.) I love the rustic look you got with tearing, twine and corrugated paper, and the eyelets are perfect.
