For my card I chose two different pattern Christmas papers (SU's 2014 retired "All is Calm" and "Santa & Co"), along with an Christmas candle stamp from the 2017 SU "Merry Patterns", and a birthday greeting trimmed from one of the sentiment stamps in 2017 SU "Lift Me Up" set.
I was really excited when I realized that the patterns in the 2017 candles stamp matched the pattern in the 2014 DSP paper. So I chose retired SU Stampin' Write marker inks that matched the two papers I had selected to color the candles as a way to tie the two together.
The card base is a 5" square of SU Basdic Black cardstock, as is the black matting for the candle panel.
I really like the birthday sentiment font, and some time ago used paper snips to cut it apart from the rest of the sentiment on the stamp. I can use them together, or apart. The sentiment and the candle outlines were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The candles are a 3-step stamping set to allow you to make the candles themselves different colors.
I'm pretty pleased with how the "twist" of using Christmas papers and stamps to create a birthday card turned out!
I am rating the difficulty level for this card as a "1" out of a possible "5". The hardest part by far was to find "non-birthday" pattern paper for the two layers I wanted to use.
