Using the Beautiful Day Stamp set, from Altenew, I've been doing a little exercise to challenge myself and to practice coloring with different mediums.
This card is colored with Zig Color Markers. Before I go any further, please know that these markers are not light fast and the color does fade (especially red). If you want something more long lasting you may want to watercolor with a student or professional grade watercolor. These markers also take a special paper to work well (Strathmore Bristol Smooth or Canson Montval). Both papers allow the ink to blend out rather than soak into the paper. I purchased my Zigs when they first came out and learned a valuable lesson. Don't jump on the bandwagon right off the bat. Wait, read the reviews and then go slowly. However, I did feel I got a nice watercolor effect.
Because I don't own the Beautiful Day coordinating dies I had to fussy cut all the pieces rather than take the easy route - but, it's a good way to save crafting dollars if you don't mind fussy cutting.
I hope I've provided some inspiration, and some things to think about when choosing a coloring medium.
As always, thank you for your visit.
Sincerely,
Susie ~

Oh, Susie, what an exquisite card! I love your watercoloring and so admire your artistry in making your flowers "come to life" and have such depth and dimension. I love it! I also especially love your layout with the beautiful arrangement and the perfect layout! Again, I love your unique style, my friend! And, yes, I completely agree with you about Zig markers and have been far more careful about jumping on the bandwagon. And being a lover of fussy cutting, I agree about saving money on dies. Thanks for the great tips, but especially thank you for sharing your absolutely stunning card, sweet friend! Hugs and love and prayers! xoxo
