A dear Alphabet sister is having a birthday very soon here. She loves pink, shabby chic and butterflies - oh my! That is a tall order for this girl so I went to the Featured Stamper challenge and found this absolutely wonderful card Mary (redi2stamp) made: signs of spring by redi2stamp at Splitcoaststampers. Yay! This was the springboard I needed to get going. I added glitter to the scalloped edges of the oval die using a zig 2-way glue pen and dropping dazzling diamonds glitter onto it. I did the same thing to the edges of the butterfly (which hides an ink smudge-sigh). This card took an inordinate amount of time for me to make, but in the end, I like it. I have not done this much sponging on edges or distressing of paper edges in years. I need to keep practicing with Shabby Chic because I really love it, but it does not come easy for me. I will get there - eventually. Thank you, Mary, for the wonderful inspiration or this card may not have gotten made. You have a gorgeous gallery and I am so glad I had a few minutes to go through it and admire your work. Thanks for looking today! ~Karen.

You did a great job with the shabby chic, Karen! Beautiful distressed edges, sponging and small amount of glitter to add to this style! Brown and pink always come to mind when I hear shabby chic....so you nailed the colors. I like the lace and ef you chose also...what a great card~

Beautifully done with your case. We did use the same card, yet our cards are so different. I love that about paper crafting, so many ways to make a card. I like how you stamped the flowers in brown and left them uncolored. Everything is so vintage looking and pretty. You combined all the elements beautifully. Very nicely done, my friend! TFS

You've certainly rocked the shabby chic/vintage here Karen, with the textures, soft colours and distressing. The butterfly may have been too hide a smudge (we all know what that's like), but it looks perfect there and was the first thing to catch my eye.

Oh, Dani is going to swoon over this. I love the glittery areas on your scallop frame. Adding the glitter to the edges of your butterfly sure does not look like you were hiding a smudge and just looks like an extra added touch. Love your butterfly basics image. I would never have thought of putting the pearls on the scroll corners! This is gorgeous!
