Have spent some time in the craft room this week with not a lot to show for it (I know I'm not the only one that has these periods!) So today I decided to take a break from that effort to make a card for one of the shut-ins at church. I used a thinking of you type sentiment, but am thinking I might make another while everything is out and turn it into a birthday card instead. Either way the front sentiment works.
In any case...
Cut a panel of Bazzill Diamond Bling card stock and a piece of white scrap card stock and die cut circle with my in&out stitched circle dies from MFT. Stamped and embossed my sentiment (Mama Elephant).
Stamped and colored my image (Penny Black) and used a circle die to cut it out. I used 1 size larger than I used on the front panels as I didn't want an inlay today.
For my circle frame, I first used a Spellbinders Circle die just slightly larger than the in & out circle die used on my front panel. Then I used the same in & out circle die as I used on the front panel to cut a stitched circle into my plain circle. This gave me a thin round "frame" I could use to finish off my opening.
Assembled the card, adding a 3rd layer behind my image for a little extra dimension. Finished off by using glitter pen on butterflies, hedgie quills and poppy stems. Used a Copic multiliner to enhance the hedgie's nose and eye. Added some freckles to the hedgie's cheek using a white gel pen. Applied some glossy accents to flower centers, as well as the hedgie's nose and eye.
TFL!

In answer to Maura's question about stamping sentiments on textured cardstock:
It really is somewhat of a trial and error thing. Some sentiments work well and others will not stamp well no matter how many times you stamp in the MISTI. So I always have scrap textured cardstock to test a new sentiment before using on the finished card.
In general though, I try to stamp using Versafine Black ink - usually 2-3 stampings in the MISTI. Then I use detail clear embossing powder to emboss.
This gives me the best results.

Aaahhh...Soooo Adorable, Debbie. I love your sweet Copics colored hedgehog image and all the tiny details to your critter, flowers and butterflies, including the freckles on your hedgie. Beautiful font on the sentiment too. TFS. Your card will be treasured, my friend. TFS Hugs.
