I was inspired by the colors on these textiles Â…I thought they looked like the colors on a hot summer night. I used my MISTI to stamp the image using shades of red, orange, and yellow. I applied the ink direct to the stamp and then using the method suggested (MISTI Monday challenge) and covered my finger with PressÂ’N Seal to blend. This worked well so hard edges of the pad wouldnÂ’t show. I applied ink several times until I got the desired effect. I then clear embossed it. I sponged various DO inks on the background again using yellow, orange, but also adding in some pink and purple. I sponged black soot around the edges and splattered some black dots using a watered down black ink. I also sprayed some gold and dark pink ink sprays to make the color even more intense.
I read a book recently that took place in Africa and they always talked about meeting at this one treeÂ…the only tree for miles. So this image reminded me of that..a really hot day and thereÂ’s only one tree. TFL!

Back in the days in the south when there was no air conditioning, every home had to have at least one tree to survive the summers I think. As a child, we found shade outside and stayed playing outdoors all day, because it was cooler there than in the house. Love your pretty card. Love when a card seems to tell a story or retell a memory!!

I can just feel the heat of day on your card - with the lovely shade given by the one tree! Wonderful inking on this - great image and sweet little giraffe on the sentiment!
