This tag is to be used as a divider in a travel mini album.
I have a new toy....a gel press and had watched a video on a technique where photographs and images from books and magazines are "pulled" and wanted to try it on my tag.
I created a few backgrounds using the gel press and various acrylic inks. The video explained that an area where there's not a lot of colour works best for the photograph to be "pulled" and although mine didn't come out clear, I'm still pleased with the finished look.
I chose a photo of my family and friends walking down a country lane one Sunday morning in the UK. A copy of the actual photo is also on the back of the tag. After cutting the photo out, you simply paste it down using gel medium.
It was at this stage that I should have rewatched the video as I also pasted gel medium onto the top of the photo (back), but later found I shouldn't have done this, but all wasn't lost.
Once the gel medium is dry, you simply start rubbing the back of the photo with water and watch the image appear....such a cool technique. The image did come up darker, but the video recommended pasting the image to protect it and it was at this stage where it started to give a ghost like appearance.
I also watched the technique on Youtube (Gelli Arts) and cool effects can also be achieved using magazine and book images which I hope to try another day.
