Child Sympathy

Photo Details
Poster: Art Deco Diva

I made this card for this week's Teapot Tuesday challenge. This week's hostess, Pat (casep) chose the theme of "sending comfort" to a family that has lost a small child. This card was quite hard to do actually because my cousin has experience this kind of loss and it is near and dear to all of our hearts. I am also entering this card into last week's Alphabet challenge for the letter L. In my card, there is lime green grass sponged onto this scene. I used a flower stamp from an older SU stamp set called watercolor minis to get the "leaves" added to these trees. It is fun to do and I used 2 colors of ink. The scene was stamped and shaded, then cut out and layered with dies. I chose these colors because I was not sure if the child was a girl or a boy so the soft colors seemed appropriate. Thank you for looking today. ~Karen.

Karen, this is beautiful. I think we all found this challenge hard because the death of a young child (he was a little boy, and I think your colours are lovely) is such a difficult circumstance. The softness of your scene has such a lovely gentle feel to it. I love the way you added leaves to those bare trees - they look like the start of Spring when trees are just starting to green up.

Wow, Karen! What an awesome job you did putting leaves on those trees! It looks so natural and just like springtime. It sure is awful that we had to make these cards but I know this will bring comfort.

I know this was emotionally difficult to make, but I think you achieved a delicately comforting card. Beautifully done, Karen!

What a beautiful, soft card you have created. I am sure it will be comforting to the family. I like how you added foliage to the trees, very pretty.

You have created a beautiful and serene scene. I'm sure it will bring comfort to the family. The die cuts are gorgeous, and your sponging of these soft colors is masterfully applied. TFS!

Lovely card...very peaceful and calm. Your leaves are perfect..good idea to use a small flower stamp. I agree, it was a difficult challenge...may the family find solace during this time of sadness.

This is so lovely Karen. You just cannot go wrong using lovely as a tree and sure like how you did the leaves. The sponging on the main diecut is so well done and I like how you used a different diecut for framing your main one. These cards are so tough to make but I think you did a wonderful job.
