I have been on kind of a card-making bender lately, doing cards for Send a Smile 4 Kids. They are always in need of teen cards, and I set out to make several with the "Slang Gang" stamp set from Paper Smooches. Another goal I set myself with this project was to make a masculine & a feminine version of each. This is the feminine version of this design.
When I saw the "blah" (which you stamp 3 times to complete the phrase) in the "Slang Gang" set, I thought of a corresponding stamp in the "12 Days Companion Greetings" from Essentials by Ellen. It's intended to go with the calling bird from "Twelve Days," so I pulled out that bird for this card.
I die cut a circle from black cardstock, and positioned it on an A2 card base, just to know where to cut it. I trimmed off the excess, and adhered it to a panel of patterned paper that I'd cut to size. I stamped the "blah blah blah" onto a strip of white cardstock, using my MISTI to help me with placement and keep the greeting straight. I positioned that strip on the black circle, and used that to help me place my bird. I used my MISTI again to stamp the bird, since I needed to do some "two tone" stamping. I inked up just the bottom of the image with Versafine Onyx Black, and stamped it so his feet would show up on the greeting strip he is standing on. Then I cleaned my stamp, removed the greeting strip, and stamped the bird on just the black with Versamark. I heat embossed with white, and colored him with colored pencils. To complete the chalkboard look, I lightly smeared some Yeti ink onto the circle with my finger, being careful not to overdo. Finally, I adhered the greeting to the card front, lining up with the bird's feet, and mounted the panel to a white card base. I really like how this card came out, and it was not a hard one to put together! You can see the masculine version here.
