Another Paper Pin

Photo Details
Poster: jbalcer

I made this for my niece's birthday. Tried something different - I used Envirotex light pour-on High Gloss Finish to coat it. One thick coat = about 50 coats of varnish. This sucker is nice and sturdy *without* the extra layers of cardstock behind the main image. I just used one layer, then used the parts of one other image to make it dimensional. Took a *long* time (overnight) to set up, though.

Very cute! Did you place the jewels right into the Envirotex or apply them later? I'm gonna have to go get me some of that! Do you find it at the local hardware store?

I got the envirotex at hobby lobby. It was 8.99 for the 8 oz kit, but I didn't even use 1/2 an ounce for this. I did stick the beads & stuff right into it . . acrylic stuff lost the facets. The glass did well - that stuff gets very warm when it is setting up, and it melted the plastic of the gems! The bugle beads drifted a bit, too, overnight. But overall, I'm happy with it. Thanks!

Love both pins you've made. Cute cute cute! Did you use something different to coat the Christmas pin? Also, do you cut it out first and then coat it AND do you just pour it over or brush it on the piece? Lots of questions I know, sorry.
