This card was made for the Try Stampin' on Tuesday May technique challenge: Color Resist. For a great tutorial on the technique, please visit http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/
I love rain, so when I saw a card on Pinterest by Michelle Zindorf featuring raindrops on water, I thought it was a perfect way to use the color resist technqiue for the water circles in a puddle.
I started by die cutting two small ovals, then using a white crayon to color around the edges (partially). Then sponged with Stampin' Up Soft Sky ink. I then added more color resist crayon inside the next smallest oval and sponged Marina Mist ink. Finally, I did a third set of crayon partial ovals and sponged Pacific Point ink.
To give a horizon, I used a scrap piece of cardstock to cover my "puddle" and sponged Smoky Slate and Marina Mist for a dark stormy sky look.
The raindrops were die cut using the Weather Together Framelits dies, and glued down with Tombow glue. The sentiment was stamped twice using my MISTI with Marina Mist ink.
The umbrella was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using Cajun Craze ink, then die cut with the matching Weather Together umbrella die. The handle was die cut from a scrap piece of silver cardstock, and the handle from Cajun Craze. After gluing the umbrella pieces together, I mounted it upside down (to support the theme of troubled times) using foam adhesive strips.
The main panel was mounted on a card base of Cajun Craze cardstock to complement the umbrella.
The card came together pretty easily, so I am giving it a difficulty rating of "2" out of "5". I think the card will be useful should a friend suffer some setback or life sadness.
