Replaced with a fresh picture...many thanks to Linda for alerting me to the fact that the stamp had a typo and read "happpy birthday". I got up early this morning and snipped the offending extra P out of the sentiment and stamped the vellum strip again - this time adding a little plum blossom on each side of the sentiment. Thanks to the vintage corners, while I wasn't able to fold my new strip over the edges and tuck it in at the back, the corners do a very good job of concealing the repair job.
This is my second card for Judy's Gilded Faux Silk TLC challenge today. It was great, as I have known all weekend that I wanted to make an oriental card with this fan die, and the background is great for that. I'm calling gold a neutral and tagging this for the MIX challenge last week, too. So looking forward to Chipped Sapphire coming out in distress oxide, it's one of my most-used blues and I really miss it in the current palette.
I used the same Embrace Life flower as on my dragon card, but switched the foliage for a butterfly in keeping with the butterflies in the fan. I stamped and embossed the sentiment in gold on vellum, and then matted the faux silk layer onto gold card, adding decorative corners to finish it.
For the fan, I had a scrap of coloured tissue paper in my box. I misted it again with turquoise shimmer spray to make it mostly blue, and then used collage medium to stick the fan pieces on. When it was dry, I trimmed them down, coloured the backs of tbe butterflies with a purple Sharpie and added SN clear glitter pen on the front of them. I used a brad to hold the pieces of the fan together, and pop-dots to stick it to the card base.

This is a fantastic creation. Love the gilded background with just the right amount of embossing..(that is the hardest thing to do) and your pieced fan is the best! Love it all!!!

Both your cards are fantastic Sabrina but I like this one a tiny bit better. (couldn't tell you why actually) That fan looks like a piece of cloisonné jewellery. I especially like the blue and gold butterflies. I really like seeing those Cuttlebug vintage corners. Reminds me that I should get them out and use them too!

Drool...envy...
Sabrina, this card is absolutely GORGEOUS!
Your colors, your fan, your "silk", everything!!!!
Thank you for sharing and...
...feel a little guilty because I am going to look for that fan die. You know how much I love Chinese/Asian cards... and here I go to break the bank to get yet another die...
TFS!

My goodness, this card is just stunning too Sabrina. I love this blue you used and the effects you achieve with your faux silk bg is amazing. I am super impressed with your sentiment repair because I would never ever know you had to do this (it looks intentional to me). Another winner! ~Karen.
