I don't have much that qualifies as a western theme so this is a variation of a Christmas card I made that had snowy hills, snowflakes in the sky, etc. Here I have the horse running over a western plain.
I put the horse stamp in my MISTI, inked up the body with brown and the mane and tail with black, then heat embossed. I went over the unembossed parts of the stamp with brown watercolour paint, masked the horse and did a combination of sponging and painting the sky and grass with Distress inks. I masked the grass and stamped and heat embossed the trees.

Your horse is beautiful - the combo of stamping & watercolor gave him lots of depth. he looks happy to be running free in the meadow you created for him.

I googled "Southwest" and I saw many beautiful scenes exactly like this gem. You sure nailed the challenge Susan. Thanks for the description, I loved reading the process, especially how you so beautifully coloured the horse. I love your sky and grass too. The embossed trees are the icing on the cake. This must have taken ages to create and so well worth it, full of heart and art.

Susan, your cards with horses on them shows your love for them. Love the sense of "running free" that you created with this scene. Great coloring of your equine.

Fab sky and ground and horse - super cool scene you created, Susan. Looks just like my horse when she is running to get some food! Fun!
