This card was made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday March Technique Challenge: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ The technique challenge was to create a card that including embossing - either dry or heat embossing.
I always like the simplicity and drama that Stampin' Up's "Modern Mosaic" embossing folder creates, so I decided to make a card that shows the difference when using either the "front" and "back" of the embossed panel.
My Whisper White panel was cut 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", then run through my Big Shot using the embossing folder. I chose the side with the mosaic pieces "raised up". I matted it with a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock cut 1/4" wide both in height and width.
The Pool Party panel was cut 3-1/4" x 4-1/4" and run through the Big Shot with the same embossing folder. Only this time, I chose the side where the mosaic pieces are sunk "down". I matted this with a piece of Island Indigo cardstock cut 1/4" inch wider and longer than the embossed piece.
The matted blue piece was glued down towards the top of the Whisper White card base using Tombow glue. The Whisper White piece was adhered using adhesive foam strips to raise it up a bit off the blue piece.
The mosaic pieces were stamped in Island Indigo and Pear Pizzazz using a piece from the "Mosaic Madness" stamp set. Because there is significant solid color on these stamps, I used my MISTI to stamp each piece three times. Each was punched out with the matching Mosaic Punch, then adhered to match the embossed mosaic forms using adhesive foam strips.
Finally, the birthday greeting was stamped at the bottom using Pear Pizzazz ink with stamps from Stampin' Up! "Endless Birthday Wishes".
The card was pretty straightforward, so I am rating it as a difficulty "2" out of "5".
