I don't normally play in the end of the week challenges, just because by then house work and family are insisting I pay them some attention lol, however one of the thumbnails of a design in this weeks inspiration challenge just sang to me and I needed to do a birthday card for my eldest daughter.
She loves red and black so it was perfect.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out and it was relatively easy to do.
First I stamped the poppy image twice, heat embossing and masking the first image before doing the second image. I then went over the embossed lines with Copic markers and then coloured the flowers, blocking the flowers in with the white pencil 101 first. It is ages since I had used pencils so it took a few minutes to remember the order of use (light to dark) and I had forgotten that we used to use yellow 108 as a highlight but did remember eventually.
Once I was happy with the colouring I went back over the lines with the Copic markers to give them some shading etc.
Finally I stamped the greeting and heat embossed it and then put the whole thing together.
I was tempted to leave the white heat embossed poppy's just as they were, they looked spectacular but red was needed, maybe another card another time lol.

Oh, it's beautiful, Marg, and I'm thinking your daughter will love it. You did a great job with your inspiration and those flowers are poppin'. I haven't used pencils in forever, either.
