We were staying with my sister at the weekend. I'd stamped these images to colour in bed when I was sick, because I knew already I wanted to use them on a thank-you card for her (no Amsterdam for me, alas, but she visited there last year and loved it). They were still uncoloured, so last night I decided to leave the row of three uncoloured, and just colour and pop up one of them. So, I sponged the back panel with DOX inks and misted it with water, then spattered watercolour pencil over it while still wet.
I found a scrap of map background in my box, so I tore that to use along the foreground, and then added the die-cut lace border. It was turning out too long, so I pleated that upwards, and tucked some kraft embossed with the pinewood planks and sponged with white ink under it. I used gesso and drywall mesh tape all along the sides and top, and then edged it with white paint for more definition.
After work today I painted a base black and added a little more drywall mesh stencilling. Stamped the sentiment on kraft and had trouble fitting it anywhere on the card. To finish, I added the seagulls, embossed with clear EP to make them seem more in the foreground. The house and sentiment are popped on foam, and supported by the pleated edge.

Where do I start, this looks fabulous Sabrina. There is so much to look at and love. Colouring just one building is terrific idea. I kept scrolling back to the photo after reading a little bit, then repeat, repeat, repeat. I love all the different elements and techniques and learning how this evolved. I forgot all about splattering with water colour pencils! The painted black edge looks great, I thought it was a layer. Everything about this is brilliant Sabrina.
