I stamped the top part of the woman on kraft paper and cut her out. For her skirt I used torn strips of a paper bag. I burned the edges using a tea light and then quickly extinguished them with a wet paper towel. I added some gesso to the strips using a somewhat dry paint brush. The bg is stamped with sepia ink using a Cornish Heritage Farms bg stamp. I sponged around the edges and also sewed a frame. I wanted to keep the card in a neutral color scheme but for fun I colored the bumbershoot with purple colored pencils. Hugs to my friend Robin for sending me these CC stamps....they're so much fun to use!

Oh my gosh, what a weirdo arty stuff piece of mixed media magic Pol. If you hadn't said you coloured the bumbershoot purple, I wouldnt have had a clue it was a brolly! The layout is brilliant, the texture, the colour, the everything!!!! Can't wait to see what your challenge is.

Super interesting card & technique Polly! The skirt is brilliant and love the stitching element with the DP and medallion. I’ve never heard the term before; but your ‘bumpershoot’ looks terrific in purple!

Polly, this is a work of art, I love her skirt done using a paper bag and, like Susie, I had no idea what a bumbershoot was!! The burned edges really make this card, you have chosen a fun challenge and I do hope to participate tomorrow!

This is just so much fun - Love the POP of color from the purple umbrella with all the vintage sepia tones - That burnt edged layered skirt is awesome!

Great challenge today, Polly, and you used the technique so creatively to fashion her skirt! The added sewing looks great. I have learned a new word, a bumbershoot must be a parasol!
