| | This is the first card I made using the punched out bits and pieces from the upcycled/recycled bright red cardboard that previously was the backing to a set of Christmas ornaments. I had punched a bunch of red hearts out and loved the glossy shiny look of the cardboard. (I posted about recycling the packaging here ) .
I had recently gotten the mason jar stamp and die set from Michaels and decided to combine them.
I started by making a white card base and then running a piece of kraft colored card stock through my Big Shot with a dotted embossing folder. I attached the brown piece to the card base with tape runner. I made the card so that it opens at the right side instead of the bottom -- I like that look as something a little different.
Next I stamped the jar on white cardstock with black ink and die cut it out. I played with the heart punchies til I got them arranged in the jar as I like, then glued them down with Zig 2-way glue. I wrapped the twine around the jar and tied a bow, then used foam tape to attach the jar to the card front. I then glued 3 more heart punchies to the card front.
I can't decide whether to put a Valentine's Day sentiment on the front under the jar or stamp it inside so I haven't done either yet. I might add the sentiment to the front before I send.
Oh and I made 2 of these the same way so I have actually made 3 cards with my salvaged packaging so far!
