This was a CASE of a simple card found on Pinterest. I liked the gray/silver combo and had not tried partial dry embossing before (still learning how to use my Big Shot!). I took a fairly heavy piece of gray cardstock (it's the double-thick kind that is color on one side and white on the back) and placed it in an embossing folder so that about 2" was sticking out the end of it so as to only emboss the top part. Then I ran it through the machine. It left a line where the edge hit so I ran some tape runner down a piece of shimmery pearl gray ribbon and covered the line with it, wrapping the ends around to the back of the piece. Then I stamped the sentiment.
It wasn't until I went to put the card together that I realized that I had embossed it backwards, and since the other side was white I couldn't just flip it. But it looks okay as is so I just used it that way. If I made this card again and embossed it this way, I might ink the folder for a letterpress effect or even ink it with Versamark and heat emboss with EP.
As it was, I just layered on a piece of gray "cloud" pattern card stock, and put that on the front of a white card. I tried to add a small bow to the ribbon but didn't like the way it looked. It looks a little plain to me now, not sure it's done. But I don't want to put something like bling on it because I want to keep it non-glitzy as a sympathy card.
Does this card need something else?
TFL!

This is so beautiful, Colleen. That paper just gives this such an amazing look.
