For Misti's pre-VSN challenge, I wanted to make an Elvis Christmas card for my aunt--a big Elvis fan (but who isn't?). I thought it combined nicely with Lisa's distress challenge today. I set out to make something that would look like a scrapbook collage that a teenager in the 50s would make and the distress gives it that authentic feel. Fun!
I'm still learning how to use my awesome ScanNCut. Today I cut out the heart shapes that come preloaded into the machine. So fun and easy! I've never bought heart dies and occasionally would wish I had some. Now I can cut hearts. And virtually anything else I could ever want to cut. I am in love.
Also, I've never distressed anything before. I've always been afraid that I would ruin my project. But I was brave this morning and ran my fingernail asking the edges of my background panel, one of the hearts and the sentiment. I like it and I will do it again. Thanks for the nudge, Lisa!

I think you certainly achieved your goal - and a wonderful vintage feel. I have always liked distressing for adding a little finish to layers, it's perfect with those papers to add to the vintage look. I hope you'll use it much more now you've discovered it. And - have fun with your new toy! Sorry, tool...
