I made this card for this weeks Free For All challenge for Birthdays are the best. Then I realized this also works for the letter M alphabet challenge. I realized my friend's birthday is here and I need to send a card today. YIKES! She loves mermaids the way I love birds so I CASEd a mermaid card I had done earlier this year: https: Mermaid's Pearl of Wisdom by Art Deco Diva at Splitcoaststampers I made subtle changes to this card from the original card in that I used different cs for the layers and I added more sparkle and shine with a wink of stella pen. I stamped and die cut the mermaid, fish, and turtle and colored these images with copic markers and colored pencils. Then I stamped, colored and fussy cut the oyster shell. For the water I used the detailed layer of the lake stamp from the Kitchen Sink Stamps Cabin by the Lake stamp set. I inked the lake stamp up, spritzed it with water, then stamped it. I inked it up repeatedly, spritzed it with water and moved it around on the cs until I had the effect I wanted. I sponged the sea bottom with SU creamy caramel ink and a sponge dauber. Then I stamped over the sea bottom with the sand stamp in the mermaid set. I used clear wink of stella on the mermail's tail, the 2 pearls, the turtle and the fish. This was a really fun card to make again. Thanks for looking! ~Karen.

Oh wow, this is a beautiful painting, I mean card. I can just see those green plants swaying with the water, and I love how you fussy cut your fish and turtle. It really adds dimension to your card. Of course, your coloring is beautiful! Your attention to detail and shading really makes your card come alive!

Love the effect you got for your background water! And the way you stamped the seaweed makes me almost think I can see them swaying in the water. (I saw that before I read what Sally just said, so it must be true, lol!) Your mermaid and sea turtle and fish are so beautifully colored too.

Another Beautiful mermaid under the ocean scene, Karen! I Love your colorful fish and pretty turtle! Such an eye-appealing creation. Your friend will love this special card designed just for her. Last Saturday I was at a craft show. One vendor had sterling silver jewelry, so I bought a necklace with charm that opens up. She had a dish filled with oysters and told me to pick one. I ended up with a pretty pink pearl that I placed inside the elephant charm. It will go to my future daughter in law for Christmas since she collects elephants~
