This is for Carla's fun Ways to Use It challenge - Cut it Out....fussy cutting.
Fussy cutting is my all time favourite technique. Before I comfortable with colouring, I paper pieced everything, so I had to learn to love cutting!! I also love doing weirdo arty sort of backgrounds, which is ideal for putting fussy cut images on at a later date.
Ruby in her red dress is just printed onto copy paper, which is super easy to cut with scissors. When I am fussy cutting cardstock, I often use scissors and a scalpel.
I find the easiest way to cut out an image is to move the paper NOT the scissors. As I am right handed, I always cut in an anti-clockwise direction, so that the edge of the stamped image is not obscured by the scissor blades.
After cutting, rub a sponge dauber around the cut edge of the image in the same colour as the stamped outline, this disguises any little white bits. If the area is too tight for a dauber, use the brush end of a Copic marker and run around the edge of the image with the image facing away from you. That way is you slip, you will just draw on the back of the image.
Because Ruby looks a bit worse for wear, I altered the checkerboard floor a little bit. There is a terrific tutorial here by Irene for the proper checkerboard floor. Checkerboard Flooring Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
Thank you for looking and happy fussy cutting!

What can I say?! LOVE IT!!!!! Your fussy cutting is unerringly Professional! Love her shiny boots! If I ever wore such high heels I'd be on the floor too. In fact, just standing in regular shoes I'd be on the floor just from staring at your Amazing flooring. My eyes never really have done very well with gazing at geometric designs....it makes me woozy. (I keep hearing this emphatic refrain echoing in the background.......T - E - Q - U - I- LAAAAAA !)
Thanks for putting some sunshine in the end of my day!

Susie, your sentiment and Ruby are so funny! Still laughing!!!! Great job on the floor and the coloring!
I have a friend that was a HS Art teacher and she taught me the same rule about moving the paper not the scissors, much easier. I do the same with the dauber! I like cutting, too!
Love your card!

Anyway, I'm with you (and Stacy) about fussy cutting and also marking so the white parts don't show. And I LOVE to fussy cut. However, I am a leftie...and always will be...hehe! This gal is a hoot, and what a sentiment! LOL! I love your tiled floor and one day need to revisit Irene's tutorial and try one! I love it...and love you...to bits!! 'nighty-night, sis!! xoxo

Oh Susie - this is such a giggle. I noticed that Ruby forgot to shave her legs before going out - not a great look if you are going to do the splits like that! Us left handed fussy cutters have it a bit harder than you "righties". The scissors are always made for right handed people - can tell you it causes a few problems and things sometimes get chopped off by mistake. Love the pearls and the sparkly earrings. At least Ruby didn't spill any of her drink. he he

This is so darling!
