I made this for the challenge: CAS452 - Halloween Cute or Spooky -October 23, 3017.
This card really DiD start out as much cleaner and much more simple than the final result. It started with the discard from cutting out a bunch of leaves for fall cards.
I discovered the orange “holes” looked awesome with a black background, and fully intended to have lots of white space surrounding it. Well, it looked awful with white, so I kept pulling out colors until I settled on the Kraft as a background, and that looked boring so I gave it some texture with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. Still within the realm of clean and simple...
Then I remembered a witch hat die that I had purchased last year and never used, so it gets added. Still CAS. Why didnÂ’t I quit there? The answer would be because I spotted a cute little kitty die that I had never used!
And so it went from CAS to over the top! The kitty needed to be doing something, right? So I added some letters for him to bat at. And the letters looked weirdly empty so I layered them AND added googly eyes....they looked dull so hit them with some shimmer spray and glitter pen.
When I stepped back and looked at the card, I asked myself, “how did this morph from CAS to Clearly Out Of Control?!” I will blame it on the Halloween candy that snuck into the house last night and mysteriously ended up in my stamp room....that’s my story and I’m stickin to it! Ha...
Forgive me, please, for stretching the CAS part of the challenge beyond the limits. I did work in the cute and spooky part, so I didnÂ’t run totally off the rails!
Thanks for flying by and checking out my Witchy Kitty.
Enjoy the treats of the season -eat more candy!!

This. is. BRILLIANT! I love how your card "morphed" - very entertaining reading... I'm going to do a die-cut panel like that ON PURPOSE for a card, too. It would be fun for a lot of themes - hearts for Valentines, cupcakes for birthdays, etc. Thanks so much for the inspiration, and into my faves this goes!
