Challenge 2 for Falliday Fest. At this rate, I will be done in 2019.
This is for Dini's challenge A to use a tutorial that starts with the first letter of our name. (My first name is Janet.) I have always always wanted to try Joseph's Coat. This is a unique rendition of it, but I love the way it makes the sunflower really pop.
This is also for today's Free for All (Hi Wendy Bell!). I don't normally use Turquoise or such bright colors.
I'm going to give this card to my MIL. We are going to visit her tomorrow and I just wanted to tell her I love her.
Kind regards,
Lela
ETA, because someone asked:
What I did for the Joseph's variation: I stamped the sunflower using dye ink on Very Vanilla card stock same like normal. Daffodil Delight for the base layer and Cajun Craze for the detail.
For the Joseph's Coat part - I stamped over the center of the sunflower with Versa Mark. And I stamped over the sunflower in Versa Mark also, with only the top stamp layer - the one that gives the definitive shape to the petals. I put clear embossing powder (EP), and then heat set.
I used Marina Mist instead of the usual Joseph's Coat of Black for the sponged on top layer. I sponged it instead of brayered it. Unfortunately, I noticed after the fact that what I thought was a clean sponge was in fact one that I had used with Espresso prior - and so the background coloring was very flat. I wanted a brighter pop. So i took out Tempting Turquoise and a verified CLEAN sponge, and continued with sponging the top layer.
Voila.
The background layer in green was not dsp - it was Pear Pizzazz with Versa Marked leaves, also clear EP and then heat set. I was going to do a Joseph's Coat on that but I thought that would be too dark.

First, what a wonderful DIL you are and I'm sure your MIL appreciates and loves you, too. Your sunflower really pops and is beautiful and I love the turquoise.

So pretty - I love the softer look of the blue rather than the contrast of the usual black! That set too - I have seen so many variations for using it - even little hedgehogs! Thank you for playing along with my Falliday Fest challenge!
