Well, it's time for me to get into high gear for Christmas, and what a great way to start. I definitely needed some motivation, and this beautiful image even had me using my colored pencils again. Yay! This floral array just seems so classic and traditional, so I decided to use the entire image and make a card with designer paper and a die. I sponged the focal image while still in the die, and then I used a gold pen on the edges and added some enamel dots.
Truly, the most fun was the day I colored using pencils. I am still a "rookie," but I have watched a couple of the videos by Alyce Keegan at Kit and Clowder. I started with the darkest color and used a light hand, moved to the next lighter color, and eventually burnished the colors with a white or other very light color to get a smooth blend. Pencils definitely take longer, but I find it very relaxing and satisfying. I'm sure my doctor would definitely prescribe coloring for me. Ha!
Thanks so much for taking a closer look at my Christmas card! I sure need to make more. Have a beautiful rest of the week...and may we all continue to pray for those affected by the hurricanes and the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas...my heart just aches for so many! Hugs!

Cheryl, this is gorgeous! I love poinsettias and this one is so beautifully colored. I love the shading around the edges that showcases the arrangement so perfectly.
Thanks for listing the colors, I've been using my long neglected Prismacolors more and more lately. Don't know why I ever stopped, they are awesome

Your coloring is amazing Cheryl! This is such a pretty image and all your finishing touches like the sponging and the gold edging make it even more beautiful!

Oh wow, what a gorgeous image, Cheryl - and beautifully coloured. Are Copics faster? I wouldn't know, since I use either re-inkers or pencils - and think the time given to colouring is indeed relaxing and therapeutic in times of stress. You are making me want to pull out one of my poinsettia stamps - but, ha, I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum; since I'm already over target for the year on Christmas cards and know I'll get a good few more made for various challenges, I'm afraid of ending up with too many.

Cheryl, I didn't know a poinsettia could be so beautiful. You worked magic with those pencils. Goodness, I haven't used mine in forever. You make me want to pull them out. What a great start to your Christmas cards. Very fortunate is the person receiving this one.
