This card was made for Retro Rubber Challenge #72: http://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/ which requires the use of rubber stamps that are at least one year old, and the theme "transportation".
I used two Stampin' Up! stamp sets that qualified for this challenge:
Loads of Love (2004)
-and-
Plant Hope (2010)
I only have a handful of "transportation" themed stamps, but my thoughts immediately turned to the cute "Loads of Love" set that features a pickup truck. Since I'm in the Christmas holiday card making mode, things started coming together. I really like the look that a Side Step Card gives for winter scenes, so I chose it as my starting point. A great tutorial on how to make this type of card can be found at: Side Step Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
My card base is Soft Sky cardstock. The decorating layers were cut from SU Whisper White, and run through my Big Shot using the Softly Falling embossing folder. Note that I cut the white panels were first cut, then placed in the embossing folder so the smaller right panels would match up to the larger left panel in terms of density of snowflakes (the flakes get heavier as you go "down" the folder).
I glued all the white panels down with Tombow glue.
Next, I stamped the pickup, lady driver, and load of presents using Memento Tuxedo Black (great ink to use if you are going to color the image with alcohol makers like the Copics I used. I used the following colors:
Pickup
R24 - Prawn
R22 - Light Prawn
B21 - Baby Blue
BG78 - Bronze
Lady Driver
Y04 - Acacia
E00 - Skin White
YG09 - Lettuce Green
Presents
R24 - Prawn
B21 - Baby Blue
Y04 - Acacia
YG09 - Lettuce Green
BG13 - Mint Green
I then cut the pickup, lady driver and gifts out using a small pair of paper snips leaving a "tail" on the lady and gifts so I could easily tape them to the backside of the pickup cutout with strong Tear & Tape adhesive.
The three sets of pine trees are from the 2010 SU Plant Hope stamp set. I stamped the trees onto Whisper White Thick Cardstock using SU Garden Green ink. These were then cut out by hand using Paper Snips. The trees were also attached using Tear & Tape for a stronger bond.
The final element was the greeting from the Loads of Love set. It was stamped onto Whisper White using SU Real Red ink. I double matted it with Marina Mist and Soft Sky.
I am giving this card a difficulty rating of "4" because of the tricky cutting and folding of the Side Step card base, and all the "fussy cutting" of all the card elements. Not too difficult, just time consuming requiring patience.
I like how it turned out! It's slated to go to one of my siblings for Christmas.

Wow! You jumped onto our new challenge and made an absolutely fantastic holiday card with one of my all time favorite stamp sets. I love this fun fold style and don't do them nearly enough. All of your fussy cutting was worth it because your sister is going to love this card! It's a gift all by itself. Thank you for playing along with us at Retro Rubber and hope you will join us again soon.
