France Martin's great tutorial for how to make a step pop-up card can be found in the first link above. I followed her instructions, but chose to make an igloo for my penguin instead of the brick wall she featured. I used a large circle die to cut out the igloo shape, then rubbed Stampin' Up! Soft Sky ink inside my brick embossing folder before inserting the circle and running it through my Big Shot. This gave a faint blue "mortar" for my ice bricks. I used an oval die to cut out the "door" for the igloo, and a slightly larger oval to cut out a "door frame".
Before I assembled and glued down the igloo, I ran the scored and folded panel through my Big Shot using the SU "Softly Falling" embossing folder.
Before attaching the folded igloo panel to the card base, I needed to decorate the card front. I did this by gently swiping the inside of the SU "Softly Falling" embossing folder with SU Soft Sky ink so that the white snowflakes would be embossed against a cold blue winter sky. I tore two pieces of Whisper White cardstock (not the thick type) to create "snow banks", then overlaid them on the card front using Tombow glue. I used the glue to cover the torn edges of the snowbanks and sprinkled SU Stampin' Glitter to give the snowbanks a glistening finish.
Finally, I created my two penguins (one for the inside of the card and one for the card front). I used the SU Owl Builder Punch and for each penguin punched a Basic Black, Calypso Coral, and Whisper White sheet. I trimmed and used the corresponding penguin body parts. The "wings" on each penguin were created using the SU Blossom Petals punch. Assembly of the penguins was done using Tombow glue.
The Christmas greeting on the front of the card is from the SU Merry Patterns stamp set. The inside greeting is from the SU Sleigh Full Of Toys set. Both were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.
Note that because the card is a mechanical one, instead of using glue for the major assembly of the card parts, I used the super strong Tear & Tape adhesive to attach the inside of the card to the card base, and to attach the tiny box behind the inside penguin to the card base.
I think my creation has definitely met the requirements of this week's two challenges, and has resulted in a card that will be perfect to send my grand-daughter!

As soon as I read your description in the challenge thread I thought what an inspired idea, I could see perfectly how an igloo would work. And it does!!! Brilliantly. I couldn't think that I had any stamps that would appear to be looking in, like France's sample, so my owl too is outward looking. I think both use the format well ;-). I bet your granddaughter will love this. I do, both inside and out.

Your grand daughter will surely love this cute card ( I know anything that moves, pops up or shakes is always a hit with my young grands) Your outside snow scene is super and the Igloo an inspired choice for the inside - Well done!
