Some of you are familiar with the story of my friend and former Zumba instructor, Christine. She developed sepsis a few days after giving birth to her baby boy and spent months in the ICU. She is now in rehab in Boston and is finally expected to go home to her family this week! What a miracle! She still has a really long road ahead of her with occupational therapy, lingering health issues, and learning to use her prosthetic legs when they come in. But she is a survivor and is finally going home to her husband, her six year old daughter, and her now almost 7-month old son. This card is a little dose of humor wrapped in a whole lot of encouragement.
I just love Cathy's sketch for this. So fun! I like turning the circles in the sketches into fun things, and chose this cute donut from PrettyGrafikDesign. And I printed my sentiment in a fun font from The Hungry JPEG. My favorite part is usually searching for the perfect DP--found it! Sprinkles! During assembly, I realized that the white panel with the white background of the DP didn't work well, so I sponged on some aqua ink that I thought coordinated well with the terra cotta colored strip.

There is a continued push here for sepsis to be recognised earlier and for all medics to 'think sepsis' ... long way to go I fear. Your friend has a long road ahead bless her. Your card will show support and give her a laugh too.
