Made for Sunday Stamps "Summer Petals" color challenge #159: http://sundaystamps.blogspot.com/

I loved the colors for this week's challenge, so wanted to create something that covered the card front with this delicious palette. I right away remembered the "Stamped Acrylic Block" technique was a great way to cover a large expanse of space, so used my Stampin' Up! ink pads in three different shades of peach/orange to cover the block in roughly the design of the inspiration photo for this week's challenge. Then spritzed the block with water, and pressed the block onto watercolor paper. I "smooshed" the block a little to ensure the ink covered most of the paper. I then let the paper dry for an hour (and helped it along after an hour with my heat tool).

I think I did a little too much smooshing, so I used my sponge dauber to give more "flower petal" definition with Calypso Coral ink. I also used the dauber to add circular blobs around the yellow perimeter of the center of the flower.

I next glued the watercolor panel to a Basic Black matting to give the paper more flat stability. Using my MISTI, I stamped the birthday sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink (it took 3 impressions to make it as black as I wanted since the watercolor paper has some surface texture). I used the MISTI also to add the "to an amazing woman" from the same stamp set. It took two impressions to get the darkness I wanted.

I glued this matted panel to the front of my card base (Calypso Coral). Finally, I stamped the tiny butterfly from the SU Papillon Potpourri set onto Calypso Coral cardstock, and punched it out with the SU Bitty Butterfly punch. Because the rest of the card is very flat, I mounted the little butterfly with a small strip of super strong Tear N' Tape adhesive under it's tiny body, then added very small pieces of Adhesive Foam Strip at the top tips of both wings. I like how it gave it a 3D effect.

This card will be perfect to send to one of my many lady friends who are truly amazing!
