Sabrina, what a fun challenge. If I didn't have to work to pay for this habit of mine, I'd be playing with a few others today.
My card started with the idea of faux tearing, making faux DSP. I started by heat embossing the deer in clear EP and then sponging the white over the unmasked area. Love doing emboss resist, it's been awhile. I sprayed the whole piece with Shimmer Mist and then covered up the Faux DSP and flicked white paint over that.

Your faux torn edge/chalkboard is a great combination! The resist deer look great, and with the spatters of white paint, I get the feeling that they are standing in a snowy field with the bright stars shining, certainly a peaceful scene.

Oh my goodness I have not tried faux chalkboard technique. Great technique and fantastic card! Love the black and white and it turned out brilliantly on your card!
