Hi folks! It's my turn in the hostess seat over in the Mix-Ability Forum and we are going book nerd! MIX236: By the Book will mix your crafty hobby with a favorite book!
I just finished reading a Big Library Read book "The Other Einstein" and was inspired by the night sky and halo look over the city scape. This card is the result!
I stamped the silhouetted woman on watercolor paper and watercolored the background working the pigment from the outside to the inside. Once I liked the halo color I let it dry completely and added my own scripty journaling in the shadows of the ground. I stamped another image, trimmed it out and glued it over the image to pop it out a little. Then I added a die cut word "shine" from a Momenta die set I've had for a long time.
Join us in the Mix-Ability forum with a favorite book cover in mind (or find any cover that inspires you) and let's have some mixed media fun!

That is a really beautiful card, Janelle. I love the journalling. Made me think of Lydia's illegible writing challenge which I so enjoyed. It's a great way of adding depth to the foreground.

I love your challenge and the beautiful sample you created for it, Janelle! I have so many books to choose from, this will be fun to look through them for the right inspiration. It won't be my current read- a biography of Ulysses S. Grant

This could/should be a book cover/book. It's obvious you know how to write, with your scripts so well placed. It's beautiful, mysterious, has so much depth and is very captivating. Thanks for all how-to details, Going into my favs.
