The fog was like a saffron blanket soaked in ice-water. It had hung over London all day and at last was beginning to descend. The sky was yellow as a duster and the rest was a granular black, overprinted in grey, and lightened by occasional slivers of bright fish colour as a policeman turned in his wet cape.
Margery Allingham, The Tiger in the Smoke
Re-reading these books currently and as soon as I read the opening paragraph of this one it was such a powerful visual image that I wanted to make a card. Luckily I had just got the cityscape stamps with a birthday Amazon voucher - so I was up and running.
Sponged the top part of a piece of white card with wild honey and mustard seed to get a vivid yellow. I tried to mask that off and then sprayed the bottom part of the card with water and added grey Brusho powder. I had to wet it and dab a little off to lighten it a bit more, then I stamped and embossed the city skyline in black when it was dry. With a bit of masking, I stamped the script stamp in Soft Grey. Trimmed to size, and then added some spatters of pewter paint - there is a second photo in THIS blog post which shows the shimmer of the silver a bit better.
It's popped up on foam, then I doodled a frame with a black pen and added some yellow Stickles to give it a bit of...something.

Oh, Sabrina, this is gorgeous, and I love the colors of this beautiful cityscape. I'd not heard of this fog and hope to learn more about it. But it's beautifully done, and I especially love the stunning doodled frame that really finishes your card to perfection! Hugs! xoxo
