For Janelle's Unusual Borders MIX challenge. I decided to go with one of her suggestions, the hot glue embossing (she has a link in the challenge thread).
I started with a piece of card which had been intended to be a blue sky earlier - it was sponged with Tumbled Glass and spritzed with a silver shimmer mist, but then when I started blending the two I got some red in from my scratch paper.
That gave me the idea to use a poppy image for this card - so I stamped the poppy with Deep Lagoon (stamping it off once so it wouldn't be too strong and would let me stamp the sentiment over it. Then I used my glue gun and gold EP to add the border. I stamped all round the outside edge with a foliage stamp from Vintage Vogue and edged it with a gold pen. It seemed rather bare round the verse, though, so I manually embossed the swirls in all the open areas and added white paint dots to them. I added a little bit of colour to the poppy image. And finally I added some little butterflies and bees - they are shimmery with a glitter pen but it doesn't show, and a gold die-cut bow.

I love your border - never would have guessed it was hot glue and gold ep! Also love the way you added the little vine stamp around the outside of the glue and then repeated a bit of gold on the card base edge! I'm thinking I'll have to CASE it for a Christmas card.

What a lovely look you got with the gold embossed glue! Just like a ribbon artistically draped around the card. You truly turned a reject bg into a soft and beautiful card.

Unbelievable!! This is true art in its form. Gorgeous!! I love that gold with the bow -- that is really neat as well as the soft curly you used in white.

That gold border is amazing. I am not a jewelery person, but I have a thick gold necklace that I inherited from my mom. It looks just like your lovely gold border. The hand embossed swirls and lightly stamped flower have such a delicate look.
