This is for the CAS424 challenge, which was to make a CAS card that included eggs.
I recently tried a super easy and fast way to make your own stamps, that I read about in a book. Go to the Dollar store and look for the sets of erasers that are in shapes/characters. I found a set at Dollar Tree for Easter that included bunnies, chicks, two "Happy Easter" rounded rectangular erasers, several Easter Eggs, and flowers. Next, get out your carving tool (I used the Speedball one that costs around $7-$8 for the initial and a couple of dollars for the boxes of blade refills).
Use the design on the eraser as a guide and carve out the design. With the easter eggs it was as easy as simply following the stripes and scallops on two different egg erasers. You can also always stamp the back side of the shape and get a solid version that will show through the carved lines when you stamp the carved side on top.
I stamped my freshly carved eggs on yellow paper with different colored inkds and used my brand new Big Shot machine (woo hoo!) to cut out squares round them, then cut a larger square (on my paper cutter, I didn't have a big enough die) and attached them, then attached the big square to a white card. Finished by stamping the sentiment directly on the card. Including the carving, the whole thing took less than 15 minutes.
If you have been interested but intimidated by carving your own stamps, this technique is a great way to start! And themed erasers show up in EVERY holiday setting at Dollar Tree so it won't be hard to find them!
(For the record, the flowers turned out great also, and I used the rectangular happy easter ones to carve abstract stripes on, which i like. But the bunny and chick came out looking like monsters. Still have work to do there! LOL)

Good idea with the stamps. It seems to work rather well. Thanks for the tip :p
------------------------------ How did I get along before I found this wonderful addiction?
I have made hundreds of cards and so many people say it has brought joy to their lives which, in turn, brings joy to my life. Almost everyone I give them to says that they always save me, which I consider a huge compliment.
