Made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #320: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional theme of "May Days".
The main element of the sketch was the large rectangle on the front with a smaller rectangle overlapping and off to the right. I saw this and right away thought of some of the clever 'Double-Z-Fold' cards I'd seen with the Stampin' Up! "Lift Me Up" stamp set and it's matching framelits dies.
I'll not repeat the great instructions in Rina's tutorial, but the third z-fold I added to support the smaller rectangle was made the same way with the measurements: 5-5/8" x 1-7/8", folded at 2-1/2" & 5". I folded the 5/8" tab under instead of out so when Itaped it down, it wouldn't cover any portion of the exposed Designer Series Paper on the right.
I used the extra strong Tear & Tape to tape all the cardstock that would be near working folds. This insured they could be opened and closed many times without coming loose.
Extra touches I used were to stamp two of the blue striped balloons, and the smaller suspended Watermelon Wonder balloon to allow me to glue them back-to-back so no matter which way you viewed the card, you wouldn't see a plain un-stamped balloon back. The suspended Watermelon Wonder balloon was created by using mini glue dots to attach a narrow strip of Acetate Window Sheet between the two balloons before I stuck them back-to-back. The "tail" of the acetate tab was then attached to the inside of the narrow Mint Macaron Z-Fold so the little balloon looked like it was hanging in mid-air.
Coulds were stamped and die cut using the same stamp and framelits set. The larger cloud was mounted using a double layer of Mini Glue Dots to raise it up slightly, then the smaller cloud was mounted with Adhesive Foam Strips to make it appear as if it is in "front" of the larger cloud.
The sentiment can be stamped on the front-most Mint Macaron narrow strip at the bottom of the card, and the personalized message inside where the sentiment strip will hide it when the card is closed.
I rated the difficulty as a "4" because of the folding, use of multiple types of DSP, and matting. Had I not done a third Z-fold, it would have been rated a "3".
