DH was making noises that it was time to switch out my winter sample, which admittedly was on the Christmassy side of winter ;-). So here's my Spring theme - birds and flowers.
This time I made the initial squares 2 1/4" square, matted on 2 3/8" black and 2 1/2" green squares, then on a 9" square of pale blue scored at 3" and 6" in both directions, and the green base layer is scored 1/2" and 1 1/4" in from the edges.
Square 1 - ODBD honeycomb stamped and embossed with white, Brushos used to colour, edges sponged with walnut stain and some stickles added. PB Honey stamped, coloured with pencils and fussy-cut, Stickles on his wings which are popped up.
Square 2: image from Kodomo stamped on a square sponged with Antique Linen. Then I coloured the bird with pencils, added white gel pen centres to the cherry blossom and spritzed with water.
Square 3: base sponged with blues and greens, embossed with Cuttlebug folder. Embossing sponged with yellow and highlighted with Stickles. I added a spray of forsythia using a Susan's Garden die from Sizzix.
Square 4 : Penny Black "Surprise" coloured with pencils. Glossy Accents on beak, Liquid Pearls and Stickles on flowers and grass.
Square 5: Background is IO CAC Greenery stamped in forest green after first sponging the piece with peeled paint. MFT branch die, IO leaves cut from photo paper coloured with alcohol inks. The nest is from Art Journey's Garden Birds. Branch and nest popped up.
Square 6: PB A Bunny, coloured with pencils. Liquid Pearls on tail and flowers. Sponging for background.
Square 7: Background sponged, foliage from In Full Bloom stamped on and coloured. Two flowers from the same set cut out and popped up.
Square 8: Art Jouney - Garden Birds, bluetit stamped and masked. Sky and grass sponged in, bird coloured with pencils, Sakura glaze pen for beak and feet.
Square 9: Crocuses from Flourishes Calendar year coloured with pencils, grass and sky sponged in.
