Since the theme I wanted was masculine, and the optional challenge theme was "Old and New", I chose paper colors that were more "male". The "old" part of the card was the old-time look of the pocket watch, fountain pen, and spectacles from the 2004 stamp set "Thinking of Father".
This main stamped image was done by layering a circle and banner on top of the front card panel, then stamping all three at once. I then cut out matting from Stampin' Up! Kraft Cardstock for the circle and banner. Since I wanted a very thin mat for both, I had to trim the banner with paper snips (the next size up banner framelit left way too much of a border for triple-time stamping to work uness I trimmed it by hand.)
The sentiment was the "new" part of the card since it was a more trendy script from the 2016 "Sassy Salutations" stamp set.
To add color to an otherwise very neutral scheme, I matted the main panel with Dapper Denim, and cut a thin horizontal stripe of Wild Wasabi to place under the banner.
This card would be suitable for sending to a male friend or relative who was going through a rough time (loss of spouse, sickness, etc).
