Thank Goodness It's Friday Color Challenge #84: http://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/ that required the use of Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, and Early Espresso.
Of course the colors right off the bat suggested the holidays, and I wanted to try out a card folding technique that would be new to me... hence, the Christmas story about holiday acitivies (in this case, sleigh rides and ice skating).
The front of the card isn't shown here, but it is the tall pine tree from the Lovely As A Tree Stampin' Up! set stamped in Old Olive. The bottom of the panel has a dark red crossgrain ribbon placed horizontally, with a ribbon of the same color attached on the left. The matting on the front panel is Early Espresso.
Because my theme for this card is "holidays past" I used the script sentiment "Seasons Greetings" which was on so many cards we received when I was a little girl in Indiana. The "page edges" on the inside of the card were sponged lightly with Early Espresso to make the popup look more like a book. The stamped image was a single stamp from the 2002 Winter Wonderland set. I stamped it in Early Espresso to give it more of a vintage look.
The special fold was not hard to do if you follow the instructions provided above, and make sure to sharpen your folds with a bone folder.
All-in-all, a very vintage card from front to inside. Not a style I use a lot, but it just seemed right given the challenges' colors and fold requirements. I recommend you try the fold since it looks quite complicated, but isn't at all (if you do it right)!

What a great use of this special fold pattern, Donna. It's one I especially enjoy using this time of the year. You've created a very vintage feel with your silhouette images and that pop of red in the base cardstock and sentiment. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Congrats on your win on Gail's Watercooler Wednesday Special Folds challenge. It's a great card. Just out of curiosity what did the front or outside of the card look like? I don't see a picture here. Thanks.
