Since I'm always in need of guy birthday cards, I took a definite masculine turn on the Global Design Project "Case the Designer" Connie Collins challenge #064: http://www.global-design-project.com/
Connie's inspiration design had blue and yellow flowers; so what I saw with my "man glasses" on were gears instead of blooms. With that in mind, I used Sizzix's gears dies to cut various sizes of Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist "flowers" and placed them similarly to how Connie did her inspiration card.
These were glued down on Whisper White cardstock, and then three yellow "flowers" added similarly to Connie's layout. All the gears were glued using Tombow glue.
I have an old (1995) Stampin' Up! stamp set named "Button Bear" which has a cute curved birthday sentiment that seemed in theme with my gears. I stamped this using Bermuda Bay ink, and because the sentiment just seemed to be hanging there all alone, I tucked a Bermuda Bay gear right underneath it.
The front panel was glued onto the Hello Honey card base offset to the right to give a wide margin on the left where I tied jute twine in a simple guy knot.
It was fun trying to recreate Connie's design with a masculine theme!
I gave the card a difficulty rating of "3" because of having to arrange the gears so they interlocked in a realistic fashion, and then glue them down without making a total mess :-)

How clever to turn what was originally a very feminine card, into a male one using the same colours. Loving all the cogs! Great job. Thanks so much for playing at Global Design Project as we CASE Connie this week.
