The Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A353 Christmas Critters (11/25/16), was to make a Christmas card with a critter on it. This was the perfect challenge for me to use a new House Mouse stamp, with shows Mudpie Mouse pearched inside a coffee mug.
When I first stamped the image, I intended to color the Mousie like I usually do, in realistic Mouse like colors. After spotting a card base on my work desk with the delicate, knitted embossed design and seeing how classically simple the oval image panel looked with it, i decided to pass on the detailed coloring and just give Mudpie a blush of pink on his cheeks.
I had a few leftover pine diecuts from an earlier card I made using SU Beautiful Pines thinlits, so I added a couple of sprigs. They were anchored into place with a small stitched oval diecut with a favorite SU sentiment from 2002 (my goodness, can Mini Mates really be that OLD?!!!) I decided the card need a wee pop of red to add some warmth, so a used rhubarb Crumble Nuvo Crystal drops to make little red berries on the natural colored branch.
This card was simple to make once I figured out what to leave out of the design. For me, the most challengeing part of making a CAS card is leaving the best stuff on the table and off the card!!! Ha.. however, I do have lots of stuff left to make even more cards, so I won't complain.
Thanks for swinging by and checking out Mudpie, done clean and simple. Warmest wishes to you!
