Phew, this challenge was challenging for me, but I knew when I saw the Christian Louboutin shoe that I had to try and replicate it on a card. It threw me slightly out of my comfort zone but I had fun and lots of sighs every time I glanced at the shoe ðY~ My type of thing in another life
I decided to recreate the polka dots using a SU embossing folder. Perfect start but I needed to make the background red so out came my marker pens. Tossed those aside and brought the zig clean colour pens out. The colour was right but not my colouring technique, so I splashed on some water. Now for the diamond red and blue look. I had a stamp right for this but gosh my colouring and stamping leaves a lot to be desired, so splash on more water. By now I was thinking I really should have got out some papers close to the image, but I'm not one for giving up easily.
I'd already embossed the cardstock as I wanted a flourish somewhere and after glueing down the paper I'd coloured, it still wasn't giving me happy feelings like the shoe image. Bling...that was what was needed, so out comes black glitter washi tape and a flourish embellishment out of my scrapping stash. I could make this work. Now I was left with cardstock stamped in yellow geobuilders. It needed a tag...cut that out and decided I had a friend who didn't follow the crowd and would love this quirky card. She also loves shoes ðY~
Friend was clear embossed on black cardstock (thank you Jennifer McGuire for this tip) but when I cut it out it had a rustic look, which in hindsight I should have left, but too late, out come the stickles and added more bling. The sentiment seemed just right for this card and for my friend. On goes the polka dot ribbon and more black bling.
It's out of my comfort zone this card as I'm more a flowers and hearts girl, but I do love polka dots....and shoes.....!! Thank you for the challenging challenge and for taking time to look at my card.
