This is for Vicki's fun Falliday Fest Technique challenge - shaker Money Folder Shaker Money Holder Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

I used a plastic storage sleeve, the type that has 2-ring binder holes punched on one side. The side edges actually become the top opening, so I started by covering the inside of the edges with Washi tape, this covers up the ring binder holes. I also used Washi tape on the outside edges even though it gets covered by the sequinned ribbon.

Initially I sewed up each side with a little craft sewing machine.....most useless piece of junk I have ever purchased, good thing it was a cheapie. Not to worry, after finding sequins all over the floor I realised that the stitched edges were dodgy, so I just used Washi tape to secure each end.

I plan to make more of these. I had a heap of fun and they are quick and easy.

Thanks so much Vicki. I hope very one is having a happy Falliday Fest (our Springyfest if you are in the Southern Hemisphere).

Ooh I thought about running it through a machine just to see. but, I love the idea of the tape. and you are absolutely correct on those "craft" sewing machines... ( had one promptly got rid of it as you could not lock the stitches) I love that fringe-y sequined trim it is so festive Susie, this is so cool.

Oh Susie, I knew you'd do something awesome with this! LOVE the sparkly blue color and especially with the fringe look around the top of it!! Clever idea to use the washi tape to hold it together too!! (I'm not good with sewing because I can't sew a straight line to save my life! LOL!!) Thanks so much for making this awesome project for the tutorial! You're a true gem my friend!!

I agree with your evaluation of the craft sewing machine. Mine is sitting on a shelf in my garage -- I've put it in a garage sale three times with no takers! You salvaged your project quite well -- it's adorable. I love all the blue!

I would have loved to see your face when you realised all the little sequins were all over the floor. I guess you are still finding them and will be for days to come. This is a wonderful idea and again so creative with everyday things. Love the added sparkle of the trim - looks like little blue gum leaves.
